Supporting Access to Water


Improved sanitation facilities
at Mangateen IDPs Site

Among the activities in fiscal 2019 to support access to water, in March 2019 the Company donated aid to the NPO Reach Alternatives (REALs)*1, which aims to prevent ethnic and regional conflicts in Africa and the Middle East, as well as stop them from growing or restarting. The financial aid donated by the Company was used to improve sanitation facilities such as toilets and showers at the Mangateen IDPs site for internally displaced persons in the city of Juba, the capital of the Republic of South Sudan.
In addition, in March 2019 the Company made a donation to Water Aid Japan, the Japanese branch of U.K.-based NGO Water Aid, which specializes in dealing with water and sanitation issues. The donated money was used in a water and sanitation support project in Mozambique.

Support for Areas Affected by Disasters

Support for Areas Affected by Torrential Rain in July 2018

The Kurita Group donated aid money through the Japanese Red Cross Society to assist those affected by torrential rain in July 2018 in Japan, and to help the recovery of the area. As disaster support supplies, we also provided our drinking water products to local governments and customers in the disaster-affected area.

Kurita Group Support for Areas Affected by Earthquake on the Island of Sulawesi, Indonesia

On September 28, 2018, a major earthquake struck the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia. The earthquake and a subsequent tsunami caused a major disaster.
The Kurita Group supported the lives of the disaster victims and the recovery of the area by making a donation through the Japanese and Indonesian Red Cross Societies from Kurita Water Industries and its local subsidiary in Indonesia, P.T. Kurita Indonesia.
