Apologies for Criminal Prosecution against Kurita Water Industries

As of May 23, 2006, Kurita Water Industries has been prosecuted and one of its employees has been under arrest for suspicion of a violation of the anti-monopoly law (improper restriction of trade) concerning the construction of human waste treatment facilities.

Kurita sincerely apologizes to our shareholders, customers, and all concerned for any trouble or inconvenience this may have caused.

Kurita will extend its cooperation with the procuratorial authorities during the investigation to the fullest extent. Acknowledging this matter with utmost solemnity, it will make every effort to prevent the recurrence of similar events by re-ensuring the compliance with laws and regulations and implementing a fundamental review of the business structures, and to restore confidence in the near future.
