Kurita Launches S.sensing WEB 2.0 Cloud-based Water Treatment Remote Monitoring Service

April 24, 2024

Kurita Water Industries Ltd. (Head Office: Nakano-ku, Tokyo; President: Hirohiko Ejiri; hereafter "Kurita") began to launch S.sensing WEB 2.0 (hereinafter the "Latest Version"), that is the Kurita Group's unique cloud-based service for remote monitoring of water treatment at customers' plants and other sites, sequentially in April, 2024.

S.sensing is a service that provides the optimal water treatment at its facilities for the whole utilities and each process in factories by measuring water quality, temperature, flow rate, and others, automated analysis such as prediction of water treatment trends and evaluation of impacts for operation based on the measurement results, and automated control of the chemical injection volume based on the analysis results. S.sensing WEB provides remote monitoring functions utilizing the data acquired by S.sensing and stored on the cloud as a service to check the data by time series and automated analytics results as reports and graphics easily, for contributing not only to the stable operation of water treatment facilities but also the increase of productivity and the reduction of environmental impacts in those facilities.

The latest version launched in this time helps customers further improve the efficiency of their inspection and operation work on water treatment facilities by improving the control panel's convenience to show the status of water treatment and utilize data. In addition, significantly shortening the interval of on-site data acquisition helps optimize the water use volume and detect problems earlier, contributing to the further stable operation of customers' water treatment sites.

Major improvements in the Latest Version are as follows.

● Improve remote monitoring function: to help multifaced trend management by early discovery and response to faults and increase the water treatment data amount

  • Shortening of the frequency of water treatment data acquisition: enable more precise consideration and analysis of the water treatment status by reducing the interval from an hour to five minutes each.
  • Expanding water treatment data retention period: improve data accuracy and cause analysis over the years by expanding from a year to ten years.
  • Expanding the maximum display number of graph items: enable visualize the correlations of various data according to purposes by expanding the maximum number of graph display items from four to twenty.
  • Implementation of data download function: enable customers to download their water treatment data directly whenever they need.
  • Organizing shared storage area: newly set up to enable data sharing with customers for the unified management of information such as water treatment data, reports and data files.

● Improving the interface: to contribute to further operation efficiency by improving the flexibility of graphs’ display items and layout as well as the visibility of the management

  • Improving customize functions: enable users to change the display of the management screen easily at any time, such as the number of items, layout, and period of water treatment data and graph, for flexible confirmation and utilization of its data in each need.
  • Responding to a multi-device view: have a responsive design to automatically adjust the management screen layout in response to the size of devices to improve visibility on smartphone and tablet-type devices.

The Kurita Group will continue to proactively utilize digital technologies as part of its commitment to shaping a sustainable society, with a focus on enhancing customer value by creating and providing solutions to help reduce running costs and save labor, and working to bolster social value by conserving water, reducing GHG emissions and recycling resources.
