Kurita Water Industries Ltd. (Head Office: Nakano-ku, Tokyo; President: Michiya Kadota; hereinafter "Kurita") announces that it has closed the Kurita Global Technology Center (Nogi-machi, Shimotsuga-gun, Tochigi) and its Yamaguchi Plant (Yamaguchi-shi, Yamaguchi).
The Kurita Global Technology Center, which opened in 1998 as the Business and Technology Development Center and later integrated with the Corporate Research and Technology Development Center (Atsugi-shi, Kanagawa) in 2005, was established to serve as an R&D base for new products and business related to "water and the environment." Its closure comes with the April 2022 opening of the Kurita Innovation Hub (Akishima-shi, Tokyo), the Group's new R&D base for creating innovation.
The Yamaguchi Plant opened in 2005 as a production base for water treatment equipment and primarily manufactured modular* and standardized water treatment systems. Its closure comes with the start of operations from January 2022 at the new manufacturing building at the Toyoura Plant (Shimonoseki-shi, Yamaguchi), which is used to refine the ion exchange resins and other functional materials used in water treatment systems and to manufacture standardized water treatment systems. Another reason for the Plant's closure is completion of the transfer of all its operations to the Toyoura Plant's existing manufacturing building, which Kurita finished renovating in June.
Functions of the closed locations have been transferred to the following.
