Kurita Newly Selected as a Constituent of Stock Index for ESG Investing
—Kurita is Now a Constituent of All ESG Indexes Selected by GPIF—

Kurita Water Industries Ltd. (headquartered in Nakano-ku, Tokyo; Michiya Kadota, President; hereinafter "Kurita") has been newly selected as a constituent of the MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index, a stock index designed for ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) investing. Following on from last year, Kurita has also been selected as a constituent of the FTSE Blossom Japan Index, the MSCI Japan Empowering Women (WIN) Select Index and the S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index.

These indexes are widely used as important criteria by investors around the world who focus on corporate ESG initiatives. With this latest inclusion, Kurita is now a constituent of all indexes selected by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) for ESG investment.

Summaries of ESG investment indexes

■MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index

This index has been developed by MSCI Inc. It consists of companies with high ESG performance, aims to target sector weights that reflect their relative weightings within MSCI Japan IMI Top 700 Index, its parent index.

■MSCI Japan Empowering Women (WIN) Select Index

This index has been developed by MSCI Inc. It consists of companies with higher level of gender diversity among their workforce selected from among the constituents of the MSCI Japan IMI Top 500 Index, its parent index.

■FTSE Blossom Japan Index

This index has been developed by FTSE Russell. It consists of Japanese companies, which satisfy a broad range of ESG assessment criteria among the constituents of FTSE Japan All Cap Index, its parent index.

■S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index

This index has been developed by S&P Dow Jones Indices LLC. It consists of companies in the Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX) that have lower levels of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions per unit of revenue in each industry group and sufficiently disclosed their carbon emissions.
