Order to Suspend Business Based on the Construction Industry Law

Kurita Water Industries Ltd. was ordered by the Kanto Regional Development Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to suspend business pursuant to the provision of Article 28, paragraph 3 of the Construction Industry Law (violation of other laws) for a violation of the Antimonopoly Law in connection with bidding for a project to construct human waste treatment facilities.

Having already withdrawn from all construction projects ordered by the central and local governments since December 2006, we are now making every effort to prevent a recurrence of such violations in the future by ensuring compliance with laws and regulations and will further work to fully restore confidence.

1. Contents of the suspension:

    30 days from October 5, 2007 to November 3, 2007
  • (2)Scope of business subject to suspension
    Out of businesses related to projects to construct cleaning facilities (human waste treatment facilities and incineration sites for other wastes), businesses which are related to public works or those which are related to private construction works that receive government subsidies in the following prefectures: Gifu, Shizuoka, Aichi, Mie, Fukui, Shiga, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, Nara, Wakayama, Tottori, Shimane, Okayama, Hiroshima, Yamaguchi, Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki, Kagoshima, and Okinawa.

2. Impact on business performance:

The company’s earnings projection for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2008, released on April 27, 2007, remains unchanged.
