Announcement Concerning a Court Decision Involving the Antimonopoly Law

On May 23, 2006, Kurita Water Industries Ltd. was accused by the Fair Trade Commission of committing an act that violated the Act Concerning Prohibition of Private Monopolization and Maintenance of Fair Trade (Antimonopoly Law) in connection with bidding for a project to construct human waste treatment facilities. Kurita Water Industries Ltd. was indicted in the Osaka District Court on June 12, 2006.

Regarding this matter, we hereby announce the following court decision delivered on March 12, 2007.

Kurita is making every effort to prevent a recurrence of such violations by ensuring compliance with laws and regulations and will further work to fully restore confidence.

A fine of ¥160,000,000

2. Impact on business performance:

The projected earnings performance of fiscal year ending March 31, 2007 (issued on October 31, 2006 )remains unchanged.
