Pullout from Construction Projects in Public Works Market

Kurita Water Industries Ltd. has decided to pull out of all construction business operations involving projects for which orders are placed by the national government and local public entities. The details of the decision are as follows.

Kurita, on May 19, 2006, withdrew from business activities involving new construction projects for sludge treatment (human waste treatment) facilities. To prevent any violation of the Antimonopoly Law from recurring with greater thoroughness, Kurita decided to pull out of all construction projects for which orders are placed by the national government and local public entities as of today (December 27, 2006). Kurita assures that it will fulfill its current obligations and construction will be completed in regard to ongoing projects for which orders have already been received and works under guarantee. This withdrawal will involve no transfer of business activities from Kurita to the group companies. However, Kuritaz Co., Ltd., Kurita’s wholly owned subsidiary, will assure continued maintenance and operation management for the established facilities.

The company’s earnings projection for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2007, released on October 31, 2006, remains unchanged.
