Kurita Water Industries Ltd. (Head Office: Shinjuku, Tokyo. President: Mr. Hiroshi Fujino) will set up a water treatment facilities manufacturing company, Kurita Water Industries (Suzhou) Ltd. in Suzhou, China. The purpose is to timely supply customers in China with high-quality water treatment facilities at competitive prices.

Demand for water treatment chemicals and water treatment facilities is rapidly expanding in China, as many Japanese manufacturers are transferring their production bases to the country. To meet the increasing demand, we have been expanding our business there by establishing Kurita Water Industries (Dalian) Co., Ltd., a manufacturer and distributor of water treatment chemicals, in May 1995, and Kuritec (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., a sales and maintenance company of water treatment facilities, in December 2001. By the establishment of new company, Kurita group will have a through business operation system in China, from production, sales to maintenance, of water treatment chemicals and water treatment facilities. We will be strongly promoting our feature of "Solution Business taking advantage of Comprehensive Strength".

Our company set a goal of "accelerating aggressive business development both in Japan and abroad" in our mid-term management plan "Powerful Advance 2005 (PA-5) ". We aim to position ourselves apart from other companies by supplying Japanese companies and other clients in the nation with products and service of as high quality as in Japanese market. Thus we aim to acquire the top market share in Chinese market of water treatment chemicals and water treatment facilities, which is estimated to top 50 billion yen. In the future, we plan to import cost-competitive water treatment facilities manufactured by Kurita Water Industries (Suzhou) Ltd. to Japan so that we can meet demand from domestic clients for cutting costs.

We plan to aggressively promote business abroad, especially in China and other Asian nations with high growth potential.
