Apology and Notice Regarding Suspicious Emails Posing as Mail from a Group Employee

Kurita Water Industries Ltd. (Head Office: Nakano-ku, Tokyo; President: Michiya Kadota; hereinafter "Kurita") confirmed the fact that the computer of a group employee became infected with the "Emotet" virus, and that suspicious emails from a third party posing as a group employee had been sent to several people.

Kurita would like to express our sincere apologies for any inconvenience or concern caused to our customers, related parties, or anyone else who received these emails.

The suspicious email was sent from "****@kurita.co.id" by a third party posing as a group employee. As this email address is no longer used by Kurita group, Kurita asks that you completely delete any mail arriving from this address. Note that opening a file attached to suspicious emails, or clicking on a URL in the mail body, risks infecting your computer with a virus or providing a means of unauthorized access.

Kurita is currently investigating the facts of the incident to prevent secondary damage and any further spread. To address this incident, we are focusing all efforts on not only preventing the spread of damage but also further enhancing information security measures for the future.
