Establishment of the "Kurita Global Technology Center"
Kurita Water Industries Ltd. (HQ: Shinjuku, Tokyo; President: Hiroshi Fujino) has founded the "Kurita Global Technology Center" as a R&D base for new products and business with regard to "water and the environment" in Tochigi prefecture (Nogi-machi, Shimotsuga-gun) as of October 1.
The Kurita Global Technology Center has constructed two new research buildings on the premises of our former previous Business & Technology Development Center, while taking over and integrating the functions of the previous Corporate Research & Development Center (Atsugi-shi, Kanagawa). This merger of two R&D bases is presumed to allow for a significant speedup in the development of new products and business through accumulating human resources that are the largest asset in research and development. For the prevention of overlapping investment on facilities and equipment, including large analytical equipments vital to research, and for the cutting of running costs. Annual expenses would be expected to result in a cutback by two hundred million yen.
The Kurita Global Technology Center consists of the following four research buildings: "Development Bldgs. One to Four", the "Communication Bldg." where the administration and welfare office is located, and the "Recycle Bldg."where water water descharged from the other buildings is recovered and treated. The outlines of the four research buildings are provided below.
This building is designed for the development in the area of ultra-pure water that is considered to be the cutting edge of water technology. This building is equipped with a clean room that is rated Class 100 and is chemically clean (*), to allow the development of ultra-pure water manufacturing technology, semiconductor/FPD substrate cleansing technology, and ultra-micro analysis technology.
This building is mainly designed for basic research and the development of new technology concerning water and the environment, while taking over the functions of the previous Corporate Research & Development Center.
This building is designed for the development of treatment technology for persistent toxic substances.
This building is designed for experiments on hazardous substance as defined by law.
- *Class 100: A clean room with 100 or less particles sizing 0.5 micron or less per cubic foot
- *Chemically clean: A clean room with 100ng or less chemical substances per 1m3
