Since its founding in 1949, Kurita Water Industries has been consistently operating in two areas of water and the environment in pursuit of its corporate philosophy of studying the properties of water, master them, and we will create an environment in which nature and man are in harmony. I believe that, as a leading company in water treatment, the Kurita Group has a mission to squarely confront water and environmental issues, aiming to resolve them so that it can help create a sustainable society.
The Kurita Group's biggest strength lies in having "technologies and human resources" that enable it to provide solutions to diverse issues associated with water and the environment. We leverage this strength, further honing the water and environment-related knowledge and technologies accumulated since its foundation, and turning every one of our staff into "water" experts through hard study. We are also pooling all our products, technologies and knowhow in the three areas of water treatment chemicals, water treatment facilities, and service business to provide added value that only the Kurita Group can offer. In doing so, I believe that we can fulfill our corporate vision of becoming "a creator of unique value to the solution of water and the environment," contributing to the realization of a sustainable society and broadly contribute to customers and society.
The Kurita Group aims to become a strong corporate group that competes successfully anywhere in the world. We have produced a synergy through the acquisitions in Europe and the United States and investment in venture companies implemented since 2015, and will continue to accelerate our review of the Group's manufacturing and sales structure and the renewal of products and services with a view to increasing profitability. The Group also plans to focus on strengthening the corporate governance required for global business expansion and developing global human resources, to steadily make progress as a global company.
I believe that if all staff rise to the challenge of creating new value in the areas of water and the environment, the Kurita Group can become a presence that can inspire high expectations and strong confidence among global stakeholders. Aiming for the further development of the Kurita Group, I will focus all my energy on achieving Maximize Value Proposition (MVP-22), the medium-term management plan we started in April 2018.
